Detox Diet Plans Saftey
What are good detox diet plans? Does yours make sense or is it based on detox plans you see on TV? How well you answer those questions can make a big difference in your success with your detox diet program.
We live in a society that is obsessed with looks and not necessarily the health impact of what we do. We watch our favorite actors and actresses on TV and wished we would one day look like them. And so you want to do what the media says they did to look the way they look. Perhaps they have certain new Detox diet that helped them shed 20lbs in one week and we want the same result for ourselves. But sometimes we forget to stop to ask if the same diet plan will work or even be good for us.
So in the rush to look great and feel accepted, we sometime overlook some very important issues. We forget to ask if these magic detox diet plans really are the answer to your weight or other health problems? So before committing to any detox diet either for weight loss or just to feel well, it is always good advice to know the facts before embarking on a strict detox diet.
Detox diets as the name suggests, are diets designed to help us eliminate or remove toxins from the body. Detox diets usually consist mostly of water- plenty of it, and other fluids, mostly juices. Detox diets also incorporate lots of vegetables, while keeping away from solid foods. The object of a good detox diet plan is to cleanse the body of all toxins- the bad stuff, effectively living the body refreshed and clean. Detox last a few days after which the individual is slowly introduce back to normal diet.
While scientific proofs for the benefits of detox diets are lacking, advocates of detox diets are of the opinion that a good detox diet plan while eliminating the bad things from the body, has the added benefits of increased energy and vitality. The detoxed individual they claim, feels lighter, happier and healthier, giving them a general sense of well being.
Furthermore, there are no hard facts to really demonstrate that the detox process actually do remove toxins from the body. It all boils than to what you believe and feel.
On the one hand, while detox diets force you to make good food choices, that promote your health, there is also the danger of missing out on some really important nutrients because of the restriction to only high fiber foods such as vegetable and fruits. A balanced diet we know, must incorporate foods from the other food groups such meat, fish and other sources of protein. In that sense, the detox diet program may be considered risky.
Fasting is another way to look ate detox diets. Because detox acts like fasting, there may be weight loss associated with it. Some may look at this as an added benefit, but is it really so? While pounds may be shed during detox, it is important to note that the weight loss is mostly water and in some instances muscle. A true weight loss diet should be aimed at shedding fat and not water and muscle. It is also said that detox which is similar to fasting may affect your metabolism and may make it harder to lose weight in the future.
If weight loss is a major goal for a detox diet plan, supplements may be introduced to aid this process. These supplements usually cause you to experience a loose stomach. The frequent visits to the rest room can make you dehydrated. Dehydration as we know can disrupt the digestive process and in turn may create other health issues.
The key in a good Detox diet plan is moderation. In and of themselves, detox diets are not such a bad thing. They help you eat more fruits and vegetables. These things are good and need to be a part of your daily diet. While eating more fruits and vegetables, it is important that foods from the other food groups must not be neglected. If weight loss is the goal for your detox diet program, then it makes more sense to keep things in moderation rather than starve yourself and cause more problems.
The body is a beautiful and efficient system. It is already endowed with its own detox plan, the organs- the kidney, the liver and alimentary canal to cleanse and detox itself. Your job is to help it help you by giving it the right foods in the right amount and let the organs detox you naturally.
